President Tinubu Engages in High-Level Meetings with Jonathan, Akpabio, and Governors at Aso Villa



President Bola Tinubu held a meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday at the presidential villa in Abuja. The purpose of the meeting remains undisclosed at this time.

Following his discussion with Jonathan, President Tinubu had a series of engagements with government officials, including the newly appointed Senate President, Godswill Akpabio. Hope Uzodimma, the Governor of Imo state, also visited the presidential villa to meet with Tinubu, accompanied by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos state, and Abdullahi Ganduje, the former Governor of Kano.

In addition, the President met with Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.

These meetings occurred subsequent to the elections for the presiding offices of the 10th National Assembly. Godswill Akpabio emerged victorious in the contest for the Senate President, defeating Abdulaziz Yari, the Senator representing Zamfara central. Akpabio secured 63 votes, while Yari garnered 46 votes.

Furthermore, Senator Barau Jibrin from Kano state was elected as the Deputy Senate President. 

In the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas emerged as the Speaker, with Benjamin Kalu assuming the position of Deputy Speaker.
