Dangote Refinery's Planned Inauguration of 650,000 bpd Confirmed by Federal Government

According to reports, the Nigerian federal government has confirmed that the world's largest single-train refinery, the Dangote Refinery, will be inaugurated in May 2023.

The refinery, which has a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day and cost $19 billion to build, is expected to help Nigeria achieve self-sufficiency in local refining of crude oil and reduce the need for foreign exchange to import petroleum products.

The confirmation was made by the Special Assistant to the President on Digital Communications, Bashir Ahmad, who also revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari will be present at the inauguration ceremony.

The Dangote Group had earlier stated that the refinery would be launched before President Buhari's tenure ends.
