President Muhammadu Buhari has given his assent to three important bills, namely the National Assembly Service Pensions Board (Establishment) Bill, the Federal Road Safety Commission Training Institutions (Establishment) Bill, and the National Commission for Almajiri and Out of School Children Education Bill.
According to a statement released by Senator Babajide Omoworare, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), the National Assembly Service Pensions Board (Establishment) Act establishes a board that will oversee the pension scheme for National Assembly Service personnel. This act also exempts the personnel of the National Assembly Service from the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), providing them with a separate pension arrangement.
Additionally, the President assented to the Federal Road Safety Commission Training Institutions (Establishment) Bill, which aims to enhance capacity building and training in road traffic administration and safety management. This bill will facilitate the provision of training programs for members of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), further equipping them to carry out their duties effectively.
Furthermore, President Buhari assented to the National Commission for Almajiri and Out of School Children Education Bill. This act addresses the issue of illiteracy among out-of-school children by introducing a multimodal system of education. The act aims to develop skill acquisition and entrepreneurship programs, as well as prevent youth poverty, delinquency, and destitution in Nigeria.
These bills reflect the government's commitment to improving various sectors and addressing crucial challenges in the country.
