A Max Air B737 aircraft with registration number 5N-MBD flight bound for Abuja from Yola, with 144 passengers and six crew members onboard, experienced a narrow crash-landing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Sunday due to the burst of its left landing gear.
The airline confirmed that the incident occurred around 1450hrs and resulted in two tire bursts on landing in Abuja.
However, the emergency response team quickly responded at the airport, and all passengers and crew on board the aircraft disembarked safely.
Efforts are ongoing to tow the aircraft off the runway.
Former President of the Nigeria Medical Association, Dr Mike Ogirima, who was on board the flight, gave an account of the incident and said that the tyre burst occurred after takeoff at Yola Airport, but the aircraft crash-landed in Abuja with emergency officials already on the ground to put off the fire before the passengers disembarked on the runway.
