Gervonta Davis emerged victorious over Ryan Garcia in their highly anticipated fight held in Las Vegas, Nevada, handing the American boxer his first defeat in his career.
The 28-year-old Davis, who holds five world titles in different weight classes, maintained his unbeaten record of 29-0 with 27 knockouts. In the second round, Davis delivered a powerful left overhand counterpunch that proved to be a sign of things to come.
While Garcia had his moments in the ring, Davis dominated the fight after the second round.
In the seventh round, Davis landed a perfectly placed punch to Garcia's ribcage, causing him to drop to one knee.
Though Garcia tried to continue, he ultimately couldn't recover from the blow. No titles were at stake in this match, which was fought at a catchweight of 136 pounds (62kg).
