President Bola Tinubu has recently bolstered his team by appointing 20 new aides, marking the second round of major appointments in just a few weeks. The fresh recruits consist of senior special assistants (SSAs), personal assistants (PAs), a personal physician, and photographers.
Among the notable names on the list, as revealed by reliable sources, are Tunde Rahman, an esteemed journalist who assumes the role of SSA (Media); Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, appointed as SSA (Print Media); and Ibrahim Masari, taking on the position of SSA (Political).
Other individuals joining the team include Adekunle Tinubu, who will serve as the Personal Physician; Damilotun Aderemi, appointed as Senior Special Assistant (Private Secretary); Toyin Subair, assuming the role of Senior Special Assistant (Domestic); O’tega Ogra, tasked with Senior Special Assistant duties in Digital/New Media; Demola Oshodi, appointed as Senior Special Assistant (Protocol); Tope Ajayi, serving as Senior Special Assistant (Media & Public Affairs); Yetunde Sekoni and Motunrayo Jinadu, both appointed as Senior Special Assistants.
Completing the list are Segun Dada, taking on the role of Special Assistant (Social Media); Paul Adekanye, assuming the position of Special Assistant (Logistics); Friday Soton, appointed as Special Assistant (Housekeeping); Shitta-Bey Akande, tasked with Special Assistant (Catering) responsibilities; Nosa Asemota, serving as Special Assistant (Visual Communication) and Personal Photographer; Kamal Yusuf, assuming the position of Personal Assistant (Special Duties); Wale Fadairo, serving as Personal Assistant (General Duties); Sunday Moses, appointed as Personal Assistant (Videography); and Taiwo Okanlawon, taking on the role of Personal Assistant (State Photographer).
According to reports, President Tinubu has already issued appointment letters to some of the newly appointed aides.
Profiles:
Tunde Rahman, a native of Iwo in Osun State, previously held positions as media aide and chief of staff to President Tinubu before his election. He has an extensive background in journalism, having worked as a political editor at the Daily Times, later moving to the Punch newspaper where he served as the head of the Abuja bureau and group news editor at the Lagos headquarters. Rahman also held editorial positions at ThisDay newspaper, including the editorship of the Sunday paper. Recently, he obtained an MBA from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom.
Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, hailing from Kano State, has worked with various media outlets such as Leadership, Blueprint, Premium Times, and most recently, Daily Trust. He joined the media team of the APC/Tinubu Campaign Organisation after serving as a media aide to former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu, who was recently appointed as the national security adviser.
Temitope Ajayi, a public relations expert and writer, has a strong background in working with the Tinubu campaign and the Tinubu Media Office. He is also affiliated with the Western Post newspaper owned by Tunde Rahman. Ajayi is an alumnus of Lagos Business School and Obafemi Awolowo University.
Ibrahim Masari, originally from Katsina State, previously served as Mr. Tinubu's running mate before Vice President Kashim Shettima was selected as the substantive vice presidential candidate of the APC for the February 25th election.
O’tega Ogra, who was previously the head of corporate communication at the BUA Group, brings valuable experience to the team. With a background in corporate communication, Ogra has held significant positions at GTBank and Wema Bank before joining BUA in 2015.
This marks the third round of major appointments made by President Tinubu since assuming office on May 29th. The previous appointments include the secretary to the government of the federation, chief of staff, deputy chief of staff, advisers, and heads of various security agencies. Recently, a committee on tax reforms, led by Taiwo Oyedele, Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader at PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC), was also established by President Tinubu.
