Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Issues Warning About Fake LinkedIn Account Impersonating Danbatta

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has issued a warning to the public regarding a fake LinkedIn account impersonating Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the organization. The Commission suspects that the account was created by unscrupulous individuals with malicious intent, aiming to defraud unsuspecting users on social media by pretending to be the EVC of NCC.

To clarify any doubts, the NCC stated that Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta does not have a LinkedIn account. Thus, any account on social media claiming to be associated with the EVC of NCC is fraudulent.

The Commission is taking this matter seriously and is collaborating with relevant security agencies to investigate the origin of this fraudulent act and put an end to it. They urge the public and stakeholders to exercise caution and vigilance while using social media platforms and the internet in general, as numerous fraudulent individuals and groups are actively seeking to deceive and defraud users.

The NCC reassures the public that official information regarding their activities, programs, and reports can be verified on their official website (www.ncc.gov.ng) and their verified social media accounts. They encourage everyone to follow their official social media handles to stay updated with credible announcements.

As a final word of advice, the NCC advises the public to be cautious when accessing or using information from social media, ensuring that they rely on official and verified sources.
