Nigerian Group of Six Ventures to Set New Guinness World Record

Chef Hilda Baci Inspires Nigerian Chefs and Others to Pursue Guinness World Records

Renowned chef Hilda Baci has recently achieved a remarkable feat by surpassing the previous Guinness World Record set by Indian chef Lata Tondon in 2019.

Her incredible 100-hour cook-a-thon has not only captivated the attention of fellow chefs but has also served as an inspiration for many Nigerians. As a result, six individuals from various fields have now shared their ambitious plans to break records and make their mark in the Guinness World Records.

One of these aspiring record-breakers is Chef Damilola Adeparusi, also known as Chef Dammy.

She commenced her own extraordinary 120-hour cook-a-thon at midnight on Friday, June 9, in an apartment located in the Oye Local Government Area. The talented student from the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), is set to conclude her impressive culinary marathon on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. However, while Adeparusi's endeavor has garnered widespread praise, it has also attracted criticism from skeptics who questioned her decision to proceed without official confirmation from the Guinness World Records team regarding Hilda Baci's record.

Joining the pursuit for world records is Chef Prince Temitope Adebayo, popularly known as Chef Maggie. Hailing from Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Adebayo is preparing himself to embark on a 140-hour cook-a-thon. His application to the Guinness World Records received a positive response, further fueling his determination. Interestingly, Adebayo's decision to break the record was influenced by Chef Dammy's ongoing 120-hour cooking marathon, aimed at surpassing Hilda Baci's achievement. With a diverse range of cuisines set to be featured during his cooking marathon in Oyo State, Chef Maggie is eager to leave his mark.

Not limited to the culinary realm, comedian Woli Arole has also joined the trend of Nigerians seeking recognition from the Guinness World Records. Arole recently announced his plan to initiate a 5,000-hour marathon of prayers, aiming to break the current record for the longest praying time. Confident in the feasibility of his "pray-a-thon" exercise, the actor and on-air personality urged Nigerians to anticipate his impressive endeavor.

In a different domain, Adebiyi Israel, a native of Ekiti State, has unveiled his intention to break the world record for the longest hours spent watching movies. The 500-level Law student from Ekiti State University shared the acceptance email received from the Guinness World Records, urging fellow Nigerians to prepare themselves for the ultimate movie marathon.

Moreover, painter and 2D artist Oyinlola has her sights set on breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest painting marathon. Currently held by Ronald Palmaerts, who painted for 60 hours straight in 2013, the record presents an exciting challenge for Oyinlola. With the green light from Guinness World Records, she plans to embark on this creative and endurance-testing journey between October 28 and 30, 2023.

Meanwhile, Sultan Akintunde, co-founder of AltSchool Africa, is determined to break the current record for the longest continuous period of software coding. Despite applying back in 2020, Akintunde's dream will finally become a reality on December 20, 2023. Expressing his joy on Twitter, he thanked the Guinness World Records for the opportunity to achieve this remarkable feat.

On a lighter note, Ezinne Okoye, a graduate of Ebonyi State University, has taken a unique approach in her quest to become a Guinness World Record holder. With a touch of humor, Okoye plans to fry her way to victory by embarking on a 130-hour "fry-a-thon." This unconventional record attempt has sparked amusing reactions online, as Okoye aims to outshine Chef Dammy's 120-hour cook-a-thon and ultimately challenge Hilda Baci's 100-hour record.

As these determined individuals strive to break barriers and make history, their aspirations demonstrate the resilience, talent, and ambition that define the Nigerian spirit.

The nation eagerly awaits their remarkable endeavors and hopes for their successful journey towards Guinness World Record glory.
