Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the former governor of Abia State, has officially declared his intention to run for the position of Senate President in Nigeria.
In a letter addressed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership and 108 senators-elect on Monday, Kalu stated that he possesses the required qualities to make the 10th Senate successful.
This announcement came just hours after the ruling party nominated Godswill Akpabio, a former minister of Niger Delta affairs, for Senate President and Barau Jibrin, senator representing Kano north, as deputy Senate President.
Kalu promised to work for the people of Nigeria and promote the constitution and the party if elected, emphasizing the importance of unity, mutual love, and respect in taking Nigeria to the next level of peace, progress, and development.
