He emphasized the importance of fostering partnerships with the Diaspora to positively impact Nigeria's housing and urban development landscape.
Considering Diasporas as Nigerians with a strong desire to own homes in Nigeria, the Minister, who previously served as the MD/CE of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, expressed excitement about launching the Diaspora Mortgage Scheme. He encouraged Nigerians abroad to seize the opportunity presented by the scheme to realize their dreams of affordable homeownership in Nigeria. Dangiwa revealed that the Mortgage scheme is poised to be officially launched in the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States in the near future.
Additionally, the Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh, who attended the summit, highlighted the pivotal role of Nigerians in the Diaspora in the development of sports in Nigeria. He emphasized their patriotism despite facing challenges and asserted that involving Nigerians abroad is crucial for the advancement of the sports sector.
The Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, serving as the Chief Host of the summit, emphasized the need for collaboration between the Federal Government and the Diaspora to achieve economic repositioning. She highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's efforts to attract more Diaspora direct investment and expand business partnerships, citing ongoing domestic economic reforms. Dabiri-Erewa underscored the significance of the summit in creating innovative platforms for partnerships between the government and the Diaspora to attract investments and enhance Diaspora Direct Investment in the country.
