"Nigerian Air Force Airstrikes Decimate Terrorists and Disrupt Logistics Base in Borno State"

Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets have carried out airstrikes that resulted in the elimination of numerous terrorists who were hiding in the outskirts of Borno state near Lake Chad. These precision airstrikes also inflicted damage on the terrorists' hideouts, structures, and a significant logistics base used by them.

Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the spokesperson for NAF, made this announcement in a statement issued on Monday, October 2. He revealed that the airstrikes took place between September 27 and 30 in the Tumbun Fulani and Tumbun Shitu areas along the Lake Chad fringes.

The decision to conduct these airstrikes was prompted by the military's confirmation of the terrorists' activities posing a serious threat to both military installations and law-abiding residents in these regions.

Gabkwet provided further details, saying, "In Tumbun Fulani, terrorists were observed clandestinely loading jerricans onto two concealed gun trucks under shrubs. Subsequently, NAF aircraft were deployed to intercept this location, believed to be a major logistics base. Following the strike, a Battle Damage Assessment confirmed the neutralization of several terrorists and the destruction of the gun trucks."

"Similar strikes were carried out at Tumbun Shitu after the discovery of structures suspected to be terrorists' hideouts hidden under thick foliage," Gabkwet continued. "Additionally, three gun trucks transporting terrorists were spotted moving toward the area. It was imperative to strike this location as well. The aftermath of the airstrike showed that numerous terrorists were neutralized, and the trucks were destroyed."

Gabkwet emphasized the Nigerian military's determination to curb terrorist activities in the North East and across the country. He also praised the improved collaboration and synergy among security agencies and the unwavering support of the Nigerian people, highlighting the operational gains achieved by the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
