Cassie Reaches Settlement in Lawsuit Against Sean Combs for Alleged Rape and Abuse Just One Day After Filing

Following the prompt filing of her lawsuit against rapper and music executive Sean Combs, accusing him of rape and abuse, singer Cassie, also known as Casandra Ventura, has swiftly reached a resolution in the matter. In a statement, Ventura expressed her decision to amicably settle the dispute on terms that provide her a measure of control, conveying gratitude to her family, fans, and legal team for their unwavering support.

Combs echoed a similar sentiment in his statement, affirming that they had resolved the issue amicably and extending well wishes to Cassie and her family. The specifics of the settlement remain undisclosed.

In the federal lawsuit lodged in New York City, Ventura detailed allegations of rape and physical abuse by Combs, citing incidents of punching, beating, kicking, and stomping throughout their relationship. The lawsuit, filed on November 16 in Federal District Court in Manhattan, further contends that Combs exposed her to a life of excessive substance abuse and coerced her into engaging in sexual activities with male prostitutes, all recorded on film. The legal action also names Bad Boy Records, Bad Boy Entertainment, Epic Records, and Combs Enterprises as defendants.

These alleged incidents occurred after the initial meeting of Diddy and Cassie in 2005 when she was 19 and he was 37. At that time, Cassie became signed to Diddy's label, Bad Boy Records.

Breaking years of silence, Ventura stated, "After years in silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story and to speak up on behalf of myself and other women facing violence and abuse in their relationships." She emphasized the significance of New York's Adult Survivors Act, underscoring her readiness to address the enduring trauma she has faced.

Responding to the accusations, Combs's lawyer, Ben Brafman, vehemently denied them, asserting that Ventura had persistently sought $30 million over the past six months under the threat of a damaging book about their relationship. Brafman characterized the lawsuit as baseless and outrageous lies aimed at tarnishing Combs's reputation for financial gain.

Douglas Wigdor, Ventura's legal representative, disclosed that Combs had offered a substantial sum to forestall the lawsuit, but she rejected the proposal. The relationship between Diddy and Cassie spanned a decade, concluding in 2018, after which Cassie married her personal trainer, Alex Fine.
