Azeez Fashola, the music artist better known as Naira Marley, and Lagos socialite Sam Larry have been released from custody by the Lagos State Police Command. The disclosure came from Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer for the state's police, in a statement on Friday. Hundeyin stated, "Naira Marley and Sammy Larry have been released after satisfying their bail conditions."
The release follows the duo's fulfillment of bail conditions set by the magistrate on Monday, November 6, which included a bail sum of N20 million with three responsible sureties. As part of the stipulated conditions, the defendants are required to surrender their passports and make weekly appearances at the State Criminal Investigation Department, according to the court's ruling.
To provide context, Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and two others were charged on October 6 and held in custody over their alleged involvement in the circumstances surrounding the death of musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad. Mohbad, aged 27, passed away under unclear circumstances on Thursday, September 12.
In response to the situation, the Lagos State Government has initiated a coroner’s inquest to investigate the circumstances leading to Mohbad's death.
