Sub-sea Ocean Limited, the owners of the motor tanker vessel Mt Praisel, accused of transporting 1,114,721 litres of crude oil, have issued a warning of legal action against Tantita Security Service Limited, a private security outfit owned by Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo. TSSL had accused the vessel of crude oil theft.
In a letter signed by the company's secretary, Paul Ishabor, and obtained by Saturday PUNCH, Sub-sea Ocean Limited clarified that the vessel in question was currently under hire with Stratos Trading Limited, under a charter party agreement dated July 25, 2023.
The incident in question involved the arrest of Mt Praisel while being escorted by a Navy gunboat in the creeks of Delta State.
Ishabor, speaking on behalf of the firm, expressed their disapproval of the baseless allegations made by certain media outlets, stating that they are a law-abiding organization with a strong reputation in the maritime, oil, and gas industry.
The company emphasized that they are duly registered with the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency and have been a long-standing player in the maritime, oil, and gas industry.
Under the charter agreement with Stratos Trading Limited, Mt Praisel is obligated to load several voyages of High Pour Fuel Oil, owned by Stratos Trading Limited, and covered by Petroleum Product Offtake Permits and Vessel Release of Nomination issued by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.
The loading and discharge of the cargo are part of their obligations under the charter party agreement. Sub-sea Ocean Limited maintains that the accusations made against their vessel are entirely baseless and damaging to their reputation.
