Breaking News: Adamawa Governor Fintiri Declares 24-Hour Curfew Amidst Warehouse Looting by Residents

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has taken decisive action in response to the widespread unrest and disorder plaguing the state. The Governor declared a 24-hour curfew in the wake of residents looting warehouses in search of 'palliatives', which included various food items and valuables.

The announcement was made by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou, through an official statement on Sunday afternoon, July 30, 2023. The Governor expressed deep concern about the dangerous escalation of hoodlum activities within the state capital. These hoodlums have been attacking people, setting fires, and forcibly breaking into private businesses and homes, stealing belongings.

With the imposition of the curfew, all movement throughout the state is strictly prohibited. The only exceptions are individuals engaged in essential duties, who must carry valid identification. Governor Fintiri urged the citizens and residents of Adamawa to comply with the curfew directive in the interest of public safety and order.

The Governor's office warned that anyone found violating the curfew order would face legal consequences, with arrests and appropriate legal actions taken against them. The curfew is an effort to restore peace and prevent further harm to people and properties amid the ongoing unrest in the state.
