Bola Tinubu, the President-elect, has rejected the request by Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike for the federal government to refund the state money spent on the construction of federal roads.
The request was made by Wike during the inauguration of two state projects which were commissioned by Tinubu.
Tinubu commended Wike for his developmental strides but rejected his demand, stating that the governor and his people were using the roads in question.
However, Tinubu promised to have a private discussion with the governor over his request.
During the event, Shehu Sani, a civil rights activist, condemned Wike for being desperate for favour and accommodation by Tinubu.
Wike called for an amendment to the procurement law, which would end the abandonment of projects the federal government handled.
Some of the dignitaries present at the event were the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the governors of Oyo, Jigawa, Imo, and Ebonyi states.
