The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors 117-112 in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals on Tuesday night.
Anthony Davis had an impressive performance, scoring 30 points, grabbing 23 rebounds, dishing out five assists, and blocking four shots. Meanwhile, LeBron James added 22 points and 11 rebounds in a duel against Stephen Curry.
Curry scored 27 points, and Klay Thompson added 25 for the Warriors, while Kevon Looney grabbed a career-high 23 rebounds.
Despite the Warriors' late surge, which included a game-tying 3-pointer from Curry and a 3-pointer from D'Angelo Russell in response, Jordan Poole missed a crucial 3-pointer to tie the game with 9.7 seconds left. LeBron James missed one of two free throws with 1:05 to go, and the Lakers managed to hold on to their lead.
This game marked a new chapter in the rivalry between James and Curry, who previously faced off in four consecutive NBA Finals from 2015-2018.
The defending champion Warriors will look to even the series in Game 2 on Thursday night.
