A British court has convicted and sentenced three people for human organ trafficking under the Modern Slavery Act.
Ike Ekweremadu, a top Nigerian senator, has been sentenced to nearly 10 years in prison, while his wife, Beatrice, received a sentence of four years and six months.
Medical doctor Obinna Obeta also received a 10-year sentence for the same offence.
The sentences were handed down at London's Central Criminal Court, Old Bailey. The trio were found guilty in March of trafficking a young Nigerian, David Ukpo, to the UK to harvest his kidney for Sonia Ekweremadu, the senator's daughter.
