APC's Preferred Candidates Visit Former President Olusegun Obasanjo in His Abeokuta Residence

The contest for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives is becoming more intense ahead of the inauguration in June.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared Tajudeen Abbas and Benjamin Kalu as their preferred candidates for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker positions respectively.

The duo has been campaigning for support from members of the House of Representatives.

The APC announced the zoning of the leadership of the incoming 10th National Assembly, with Abbas from the Northwest and Kalu from the Southeast as the preferred candidates for the positions of Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively.

On May 9, the duo, along with other members-elect of the House of Representatives, visited President-elect Bola Tinubu at his Lagos residence before his reported departure from the country. During the visit, they promised to work hard to achieve the objective of the "renewed hope" agenda.

The Tajudeen Ben Kalu’s Movement for National Stability, Fairness, and Inclusive Parliament issued a statement that said the President-elect promised to work with the duo harmoniously if elected.

After meeting Tinubu, the aspiring Speaker and Deputy Speaker visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his Abeokuta residence.

Kalu shared pictures from the meeting on his Twitter page and said that it was a moment of respect and shared vision as the former President warmly received the nominated candidates for the leadership positions of the House of Representatives.
