Siblings from England emerge victorious at Lagos squash tournament with $18,000 prize pool



Curtis Malik, an English professional squash player, won the men's event at the 2023 Lagos International Squash Classics by defeating Martin Svec of the Czech Republic 3-0 in the final on Saturday at the Sir Molade Okoya-Thomas Indoor Hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos. 

In the semi-finals, Curtis defeated his younger brother Perry 3-1 to set up the final match against Svec. 

Torrie Malik, the sister of Curtis and Perry, won the women's title by defeating Egypt's Fathy Malik 3-0, completing a clean sweep for the Malik family. 

The tournament had a prize money of $18,000. 

All members of the Malik family, including their father Cameron, who is also their coach, play squash. 

Curtis expressed his delight at playing against his brother in the semi-final and praised the friendly nature of Nigerians.
