A tragic incident occurred during Wednesday evening's match between Nigeria and South Africa, as a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in Adamawa State passed away during the penalty shootouts. The deceased, identified only as Samuel from Kaduna State, succumbed just before the final kick that secured Nigeria's victory in the game.
According to an eyewitness account shared on social media, the young corps member collapsed during the celebration of Nigeria's triumph at a sports viewing center in Numan. Despite efforts to rush him to the hospital, he tragically passed away before reaching medical assistance.
Jingi Dennis, the NYSC Coordinator in Adamawa State, expressed his condolences and stated that he was awaiting further details regarding the incident. Dennis revealed that the deceased, who reportedly expressed discomfort watching penalty shootouts, suddenly collapsed and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the General Hospital in Numan.
