Vice President Shettima Takes the Helm at Villa for National Economic Council Meeting

Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently leading the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the State House in Abuja. This marks the fourth gathering since the start of the Bola Tinubu administration, and the attendance is robust, with virtually all members present.

The council is composed of the governors from the 36 states of the federation, along with ministers responsible for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Finance. Additionally, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), and other notable figures are among its members. Notably, the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, and his deputy, Comrade Philip Shaibu, were not observed at the commencement of the meeting.

For this month's session, which is likely the final one for 2023, all governors are in attendance, except those from Akwa Ibom, Kano, Lagos, Enugu, Osun, Borno, Nasarawa, and Adamawa States, who are being represented by their deputies.
