In a joint operation, the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services successfully foiled a planned attack on the Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State by Boko Haram. The security forces conducted a well-coordinated raid on the terrorists' hideout in the early hours of Friday, November 3, 2023. Two Boko Haram suspects were apprehended during the operation, and a significant amount of weaponry and explosive materials were recovered, including five AK-47 rifles, one Rocket Propelled Gun (RPG), hand grenades, and other military equipment.
Simultaneously, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) issued a warning about a food crisis that could impact over 2.6 million Nigerians in Borno, Sokoto, and Zamfara states. This crisis is primarily attributed to the activities of terrorist groups operating in those regions.
Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, emphasized the importance of the collaboration between the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services in averting the planned attack. He urged the public to provide timely and credible information to support the ongoing efforts to address security challenges and defeat insurgency.
