"National Association of Resident Doctors Commences Yet Another Indefinite Total Strike"

The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has taken a significant step by declaring a complete and indefinite strike in order to assert their demands. The decision was announced on Tuesday night via a press statement, which was signed by Dr. Emeka Orji, the National President of NARD.

Among the key demands listed by Dr. Orji are seven major points. These demands include the immediate payment of the 2023 Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF) and the prompt release of the circular regarding one-for-one replacement and the payment of skipping arrears.

Furthermore, the doctors are seeking an upward revision of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) to be in line with restoring the full salary to the 2014 value of CONMESS. They are also demanding the settlement of the arrears of the consequential adjustment of minimum wage for omitted doctors, and the reversal of the downgrading of their membership certificate by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).

In addition to the aforementioned demands, the doctors are also calling for the payment of MRTF, a new hazard allowance, and skipping, as well as the implementation of corrected CONMESS in State Tertiary Health Institutions. Moreover, they are requesting the settlement of omitted hazard allowance arrears.

The NARD's decision to embark on this strike stems from their commitment to address these pressing issues and advocate for their rights as medical professionals. The strike action will continue indefinitely until their demands are met by the appropriate authorities.
