UEFA Drops 'Europa' from Conference League Name

UEFA, the governing body of European football, has announced a modification in the name of its third-tier competition, the "Europa Conference League." Starting from the 2024-25 season, it will be referred to simply as the "Conference League." The change aims to streamline the competition's title.

In a statement released on Wednesday night, June 28, UEFA also disclosed the host cities for the 2024 and 2025 Champions League finals. Athens will stage the 2024 final, while Wroclaw has been chosen as the location for the 2025 final. Additionally, Lisbon has been designated to host the 2025 Women's Champions League final, to be held at Sporting's Estadio Jose Alvalade.

Moreover, UEFA officials will closely monitor the new Agia Sofia Stadium, which is the home ground of AEK Athens, until November of this year. Following their assessment, a confirmation regarding the scheduling of the 2024 final at the venue will be made by the organization.
