Seun Kuti, the afrobeat artist who received a Grammy nomination, has been released from police custody.
Previously, he had been held at the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Panti, Yaba, Lagos, following an order from the Yaba Chief Magistrate Court.
The court had remanded him for allegedly assaulting a policeman, as shown in a widely circulated video.
The news of Seun Kuti's release was shared by activist Omoyele Sowore on his Twitter account on Tuesday.
Sowore expressed his joy by stating, "Just to announce that @RealSeunKuti has been released from @PoliceNG detention in Lagos. Hasta la victoria siempre!"
