Gervonta Davis, the celebrated American boxer, has been released from jail and placed under house arrest for the next three months.
This comes after he pleaded guilty in February to a hit-and-run incident that occurred in 2020, in addition to four road traffic offenses, one of which involved injuring a pregnant woman.
The incident took place on Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard, following Davis' win over Leo Santa Cruz on October 31, 2020.
Davis was charged with 14 counts, including leaving the scene of an accident and bodily injury, and he fled the scene with the help of a friend.
Despite this pending legal issue, he was cleared to fight Ryan Garcia on April 22.
Davis will now be confined to his home for 90 days, although he has escaped imprisonment.
However, he still faces a pending misdemeanour assault charge, which arose from allegations that he battered a woman during an argument in December 2020.
The boxer's legal troubles have cast a different light on his celebrated sporting achievements and have left some of his fans disappointed.
