A recent update reveals that the Sector 3 Operation, Hadin Kai troops, in collaboration with the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), have successfully captured Aji Dala, a suspected informant linked to terrorist activities in Borno State. The 45-year-old suspect was apprehended on November 14 in the Monguno Local Government Area, as reported by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region. The arrest was carried out by the 242 Battalion in conjunction with intelligence operatives in the Charamari area.
Sources suggest that Dala's capture may be tied to a letter purportedly issued by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), outlining a plan to attack Monguno town on November 17, 2023. The letter, signed by someone identified as Amir Hallat Muhammed, warned residents of an impending assault, causing panic among Monguno residents, according to The Cable. However, it was later revealed that the message was a deliberate attempt by ISWAP to instigate fear and chaos.
A military source, as reported by The Guardian, stated, "They have tried before and failed woefully. Let them try it again. Monguno is their burial ground. They themselves know it." In a separate development, troops from the 7 Division and Sector 1 of Operation Hadin Kai conducted a successful operation, eliminating six ISWAP fighters in their strongholds in Gime and Muzuri villages of Borno State. The operation also led to the rescue of 78 individuals, including 30 women and 48 children, who had been kidnapped. Additionally, various weapons, such as AK-47 rifles and 3 Dane guns, were recovered during the mission.
