Erling Haaland Identifies Cristiano Ronaldo as Primary Inspiration, Reveals Regular YouTube Study Sessions

Erling Haaland, the forward for Manchester City, has identified Cristiano Ronaldo, the forward for Portugal and Al Nassr, as his primary source of inspiration during his formative years. Haaland, who has been showcasing exceptional performance since joining Manchester City in the summer of 2022 with 69 goals in 71 appearances, credits Ronaldo for his development.

In an interview with TV 2, the 23-year-old expressed how he frequently watched Ronaldo's videos on YouTube, focusing on the veteran's movements in the box. Haaland acknowledged that he learned valuable lessons from Ronaldo's strategic plays, especially the precise timing of movements and the significance of a well-placed post.

Haaland elaborated on Ronaldo's evolution as a player, recalling moments from his tenure at Manchester United and the initial years at Real Madrid when he transitioned into a more prominent striker role. The Norwegian forward marveled at Ronaldo's ability to continuously adapt and emphasized the importance of subtle movements in the box to outsmart defenders.

Despite his admiration for Ronaldo's style, Haaland is making a name for himself at Manchester City, having played a pivotal role in the team's historic treble success last season. Currently boasting 17 goals this season, including a notable brace in the recent 4-4 draw against Chelsea, Haaland's exceptional performance has garnered attention.

However, the forward will be sidelined for the remainder of Norway's Euro 2024 qualifying games due to an injury sustained in the 2-0 victory over the Faroe Islands on Thursday.
