Comedian AY Denies Calling Seun Kuti's Daughter a Dog; Singer Responds with Retaliation

Comedian Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has refuted allegations that he portrayed Seun Kuti's daughter as a dog in one of his skits. The controversy began when Seun Kuti accused AY of mocking him during a fire incident at his house, where he believed his daughter was depicted as a dog in a satirical video about a confrontation with a police officer on a highway.

In response to Kuti's claims, AY shared a video message on his Instagram page, addressing the issue. He explained that the dog featured in the skit was a metaphor for Hilda Baci, a Guinness World Record holder who was trending at the time for eating dog meat. AY emphasized his love for children, as he and his wife had struggled to conceive for 13 years. He stated that he would never mock a child by referring to them as a dog.

AY clarified that as a stand-up comedian, he often provides commentary on current events and trending issues in his performances. In this particular skit, he had discussed topics like fuel subsidy and the controversy surrounding Hilda Baci and Enioluwa's dog meat consumption. The reference to Hilda in the skit was related to this incident.

He pointed out that if anyone should have been offended by the skit, it would have been Hilda Baci, but she understood it was intended as humor. AY also mentioned that Seun Kuti had previously criticized him for accepting a national award from the presidency.

Seun Kuti, however, rejected AY's explanation, maintaining that he perceived the video as disrespectful and that the timing and meaning of the skit were not lost on him. He disputed AY's claims, including the reference to his daughter in the skit and expressed his dissatisfaction with AY's response.
