The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have officially announced a nationwide strike. The NLC took this action in response to an attack on its president, Joe Ajaero. Instructing its members to participate, the NLC has urged its affiliates to adhere to the resolutions of the National Executive Council.
TUC President Festus Osifo confirmed these developments during a press briefing on Monday, emphasizing that the strike will persist until "government at all levels wake up to their responsibility." The Organized Labour had previously declared a comprehensive and indefinite nationwide strike scheduled to commence from Tuesday, November 14, 2023.
