Commissioner Mobolaji Ogunlende of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development emphasized that the government will not tolerate the operation of illegal orphanages within Lagos State. He stressed that the state government is committed to upholding the established rules and regulations that ensure an acceptable standard in such facilities.
Expressing her concerns about the unethical practices observed among orphanage operators in the state, Permanent Secretary Mrs. Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu stated that it is regrettable that such incidents continue to occur. She warned all those involved in illegal activities to cease their operations immediately, as the law will be enforced against them. Every home operator in the state must adhere to the stipulated rules.
The orphanage 'His Grace Children Home and Hostel' had a total of seven residents at the time of its closure, comprising four adults aged between 18 and 25 and three children between the ages of 13 and 16. It was discovered that the orphanage had never been officially registered with the state government.
