META's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, unveiled a new feature for WhatsApp on Tuesday, which allows users to share their screens during video calls. By clicking on the 'Share' icon, users can choose to share a specific application or their entire screen.
Mark Zuckerberg expressed, "We're introducing the capability to share your screen while on a video call using WhatsApp." He emphasized that this feature offers versatility, enabling users to share live views of their screens during calls. The company mentioned that this feature caters to various scenarios, such as collaborative work document sharing, browsing family photos, planning vacations, online shopping with friends, and even providing technical assistance to grandparents.
Moreover, WhatsApp users can now enjoy video calls in Landscape mode, enhancing the viewing and sharing experience on smartphones with a broader and more immersive display.
Notably, WhatsApp had initially introduced video calling for all its users in November 2016. The platform has been consistently evolving, and it has recently disclosed plans to introduce message editing support for media with captions on iOS.
The company's official changelog highlighted, "We've added support for editing messages with captions on media." Additionally, an updated user interface (UI) with translucent bars and new action sheets is being rolled out. The changelog also indicated ongoing updates, including a redesigned sticker tray with improved navigation and a more extensive collection of stickers, including additional Avatars.
All of these enhancements are set to be gradually introduced over the upcoming weeks. Just last month, WhatsApp had already introduced landscape mode support for video calls and the option to silence unknown callers on iOS, widely expanding its feature set.
