The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a stern warning to the Federal Government, giving them a seven-day ultimatum to reverse what they perceive as anti-poor policies. This ultimatum includes the recent increase in the petrol pump price. Failure to comply with their demands will result in an indefinite nationwide strike starting from August 2.
To enforce their position, the NLC has called upon all its affiliates and state councils to take immediate action in mobilizing workers and other Nigerian citizens, along with civil society allies. The purpose of this mobilization is to prepare for a prolonged strike and mass protests if the government does not address their concerns.
The decisions taken by the NLC's Central Working Committee (CWC) during their meeting on July 25 at the Abuja Labour House have led to this ultimatum.
