Canada has implemented a more efficient visa processing system to facilitate family reunification while waiting for permanent residence permits.
The Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Sean Fraser, announced that applications will now be processed within 30 days, benefiting spouses and dependent applicants. The new visa rule boasts an impressive approval rate of 93 percent.
Minister Fraser took to Twitter, using his official handle @seanfraserMP, to express the importance of keeping families together. He stated that family reunification is not only a compassionate act but also a vital element of Canadian society. The minister emphasized that this announcement fulfills a commitment to building inclusive and resilient communities.

Families can now come to Canada temporarily while awaiting permanent residence, with faster processing times for temporary resident visas and new processing tools for spousal applicants. Additionally, spousal and family class applicants will receive an open work permit.
Under the new visa processing route, dependents can apply for and receive an open work permit immediately after submitting a complete permanent residence application under the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class or other family class programs.
Furthermore, spousal applicants and open work permit holders whose permits are set to expire between August 1 and the end of 2023 will be able to extend their work permits for an additional 18 months.
This development in Canada's visa processing procedures comes shortly after the United Kingdom announced stricter visa restrictions to address the influx of immigrants, which they claim has reached one million individuals.
